Revolution at the Annual Meeting

Revolution's table at the annual meeting.

What did you miss?

Revolution Broadband representatives were busy at the Wyoming County Fairgrounds on August 30. Our table at the Claverack Annual Meeting tent was a popular destination for many members, and we were thrilled to talk about our high-speed fiber-to-the-home project.

Members who recently had Revolution service installed at their homes stopped by to tell us about their experience. From the ease of installation to the amazingly fast speeds, our customers are thankful for reliable service they can count on delivered by local people they can trust.

But what were the most frequently asked questions throughout the day? “Am I going to get Revolution broadband service?” and “When?” Let us provide the answers we shared:

At Claverack Communications, our goal has always been to serve members who don’t already have access to affordable high-speed internet service. Fiber builds are an expensive endeavor, especially in rural America where homes can be located miles apart from one another. To offset some of the cost, Claverack secured funding through the Rural Digital Opportunity Fund (RDOF). This funding is not adequate to provide service to all our unserved and underserved members, but it’s a great start. Because we are using federal grant money to fund our build, the approved address blocks must be completed by the deadlines and milestones set forth by the FCC. Some locations near the approved areas may also be able to receive service, and we will alert all eligible customers by phone when it’s time to place an order.

We are actively seeking additional funding to expand our service area, and there are a few things that you can do to help. First, it is important to register your interest so we can utilize that information when determining where to focus our efforts. If you enter your address on the interactive map on our homepage, you will not only be able to register your interest, but you will also be able to see the estimated timeframe for installation if you are located in an area we plan to serve.

You can also help by contacting your elected officials, so they understand your need.  There is unprecedented funding coming available in the next couple of years to help close the digital divide.  It is critically important that our voices are heard so the funding reaches our rural area.

In addition, we encourage you to go to the FCC National Broadband map where you can enter your address and see the broadband service that the current providers have reported is available at your home.  If you can’t receive the service that is supposedly available, you can submit a challenge to the reported information.  It is important that the maps be accurate because the maps are used to determine which areas are in need and should receive funding.
