Revolution Broadband Experiences Growth and Enhances Electrical Grid

Revolution Broadband has surpassed a significant milestone by connecting over 2,000 customers. Moving at a pace nearly a year ahead of schedule, Claverack Rural Electric Cooperative’s (REC) affiliate, Claverack Communications, LLC, isn’t slowing down its quest to bridge the digital divide and provide fast, reliable fiber internet to unserved and underserved areas in rural Bradford, Susquehanna, and Wyoming counties.

Established in the spring of 2022, Revolution Broadband has made its fiber services accessible to over 3,000 homes and businesses. The collaboration between Claverack REC and Revolution has resulted in the completion of 600 active miles of fiber, made possible through funding from the Rural Digital Opportunity Fund and the Unserved High-Speed Broadband Funding Program.

“Reaching each milestone positively impacts our members in so many ways,” said Steve Allabaugh, President & CEO of Claverack Rural Electric Cooperative and Claverack Communications. “By integrating fiber optic cables onto the electric distribution grid, we can remotely communicate and operate devices through our SCADA system, leading to quicker diagnosis and problem resolution. This is a significant advancement for our members and our operations.”

Service is currently available in many areas of Bradford County and portions of Wyoming County. Construction has commenced in western Susquehanna County, with connections expected in 2025.

Kyle Lane, Director of Broadband Operations, states, “Revolution service will be extended to almost 1,300 additional locations in Bradford and Wyoming Counties thanks to the funding we were awarded through the Capital Projects Fund — Broadband Infrastructure Program.” Construction is slated to begin in 2025.
